A Random Collection of Thoughts/Updates

I don't really have a single topic to share with you all; mostly just a bunch of little updates and such.
First, today is the 11th day of my 30-day detox/cleanse/diet... I'm over a third of the way through and I have to admit that I feel pretty damn good. I'm not hungry (most of the time), I don't feel deprived (most of the time), and I'm getting the best sleep of my life. I noted that my arms felt really weird after the first day, which I couldn't explain, but I think I know now - I'm sleeping so soundly that when I would have normally been tossing and turning and shifting around in bed, I literally fall asleep in one position and stay there all night. I've woken up on my side every morning - on my arm. So my theory is that my arm(s are) is feeling funny is b/c I slept on it (them) all night. Either that or I'm dying of some weird arm-eating disease.
Eric is loving the detox/cleanse/diet, too; he's never eaten so well in his life! And it's probably not just the type of food we're eating but the fact that I cook a homemade meal every night for dinner... Can't hurt the love he has for this "diet." He doesn't ever want to go back to "normal" and to be honest, I'm not sure we will (although I'll probably splurge for McDonald's fries and Coke periodically).
My #workwife Carmen (the one I'm detoxing with) and I discovered a super simple and totally yummy recipe for "ice cream" that we've both experimented with a few times with flavors and that has been a nice salve for the times when we have wanted something dessert-y. I'm also going to try making a cake tonight or tomorrow... We'll see how that goes! But for now, I thought you might be interested in the "ice cream" recipe:

1 can Coconut Milk (not Lite - make sure it has Guar Gum in the ingredients)
3 c Fruit
1 Tbsp (or to taste) Pure Maple Syrup
Put these things in a blender and blend until smooth. Freeze in an air-tight, freezer-safe container. Once it's frozen, it's pretty solid, (perfect consistency is after a couple hours), you'll want to let it thaw for 45 minutes (yes, THAT long) or so. Either that, or use a fork and serrated knife to eat. The photo here is of the blackberry/coconut I made (3 c frozen blackberries and a handful of unsweetened coconut flakes).
This weekend is Labor Day Weekend... Eric is playing with the Danny Barrale Trio at Cunningham Creek Winery in Palmyra, VA on Saturday afternoon/evening from 4:30-8:00 PM. Rappahannock Co. Oysters will be on hand for those who like a little brine with their jazz! I'll be attending the 6:30 set; you can make reservations for either the 4:30-6:00 set or the 6:30-8:00 set. Visit their website at cunninghamcreek.wine or call them at (434) 207-3907 to make your (outdoor) reservation. I know three tents are already reserved and there is limited seating, so if you want to go, reservations are suggested.
As far as gigs go, things are picking up for Eric. Most places have him playing outside, but there have even been a few indoor gigs. It's been nice to have the work again; COVID took away 30-40% of his income for a while there, so a little more breathing room is welcome. Next week he has 4 gigs!
Well, that's it for now. Kind of boring, I know, but well, so am I.
